Chinese Formula One Grand Prix 2009

Located in Shanghai International Automobile City (SIAC) in Jiading District, Shanghai International Circuit (SIC) is one of major projects in SIAC. Designed by Hermann Tilke, it boasts the world’s most sophisticated facilities. The circuit covers a total area of 5.3 square kilometers, with the track taking up 2.5 square kilometers and the rest having 2.8 square kilometers. The circuit is located in a convenient venue, accessible from the main highways, 30 kilometers to the city center and 20 kilometers to the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. The circuit is surrounded by Jia Jin Highway (A5), Hu Jia Liu Highway (A12) and Outer Loop Highway (A30).
With the orientation of developing new automobile entertainment programs and fostering a rich automobile culture by making full of existing resources, SIC will update the business concept, integrate the resources, intensify marketing and improve the business performance in a bid to become a multi- functional facilities incorporating sports, auto manufacturers activity, tourism, exhibition, advertising, and culture and entertainment. We will adopt and implement diversification strategy to improve race business.
At present, SIC has hosted a series of world-class motor racing events including F1 Chinese Grand Prix and MotoGP Chinese Grand Prix and has provided a good platform for international and domestic racing teams, auto manufacturer training and testing, and exhibition.
In addition, SIC also provides travel routes. By joining hand in hand with the touring resources in Jiading, SIC has become an essential part of the auto culture travel and the urban and rural travel. Meanwhile, SIC also presents A1 Grand Prix, Star Charity Race, and China Circuit Championship.
That F1 is held at SIC symbolizes that China’s auto sport has gone global. Looking into the future, there are opportunities and challenges. The roaring of cars has encouraged us to move forward.
